Actor Nagarjuna turned a year older on Thursday, August 29, and the team of 'Coolie' officially welcomed him onboard the film with a birthday-special poster. Led by Rajinikanth, it is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025, and Nagarjuna's addition just made it bigger.

Interestingly, speculations were rife about the Telugu superstar refusing to be a part of the film. Various media reports suggested that the makers cast Kannada actor Upendra after Nagarjuna rejected the film. However, it seems like there was no truth to the rumours, after all.Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is directing 'Coolie', released an official new poster on Thursday, revealing the actor's character name. The actor is playing the role of 'Simon' in the film. The poster featured him looking stylish in a black shirt, showing-off a luxury wristwatch. The director shared on X: "Kicked to have King @iamnagarjuna sir joining the cast of #Coolie as #Simon. Welcome on board and wishing you a very happy birthday sir (sic)."

The Telugu superstar responded to Lokesh's post on X, and wrote, "Thank uuuu Loki, I hv been wanting to work with you since kaithi !!! Absolutely excited for our journey ahead @Dir_Lokesh Looking forward to be sharing screenspace with the Thalaivar!!

Apart from Nagarjuna, 'Coolie' also features Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir and Mahendran, among others in important roles. There are also strong rumours of actor Aamir Khan making a cameo in the film. However, there's no official announcement on the same. If Aamir joins the cast of 'Coolie', he will be reuniting with Rajinikanth 30 years after their last joint outing, 'Aatank Hi Aatank', which also starred Juhi Chawla.

The Tamil pan-India film is being made on a big budget. While the official release date is not announced yet, it is expected to hit the screens in the second half of next year.

Interestingly, the fans believed that 'Coolie' was a part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). However, the director told the media and the fans in an interview that it's a stand-alone film, and his universe includes 'Leo', 'Kaithi 2', 'Vikram 2', and a spin-off film that's yet to be announced.
