The Tamil Nadu government granted permission to hold one special show for Thalapathy Vijay-starrer 'The Greatest of All Time' aka 'GOAT' on September 5 following a request from the makers of the film. According to the order issued by the government, all theatres can screen only one special show, with the opening show starting at 9 am and the last show ending at 2am. Theatres are allowed to screen only a maximum of five shows per day.

AGS Entertainment Private Limited, the production house of 'GOAT', had approached the Tamil Nadu government to grant permission to have a special show on September 5 and September 6. However, permission has been granted only for Thursday.

Taking into consideration the said request, the Commissioner of Revenue Administration stated that due to increasing the time of special screenings, adequate arrangements should be made with the co-operation and security of the police department without causing any health impairment and overcrowding in theatres.

Importantly, this will also be his second last film in Vijay’s career, as he has now announced the formation of his political party. Vijay had earlier stated that once his film commitments are over, he will work towards serving the people of Tamil Nadu through his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which aims to make a mark in the 2026 assembly polls in the state.
