Netizens took to Twitter to share their views after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on Thursday, urged people to maintain a 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 to avoid social interaction in a bid to fight coronavirus.

In his speech Modi said, "I am requesting your support for a 'Janata curfew'. The curfew will be in place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 22."

He stated that the two mantras that people should follow are "resolve" and "self-control". Following the conclusion of his speech, people took to Twitter to share their views about 'janta curfew'.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam tweeted, "As @PMOIndia invites citizen-participation in the fight against CoronaVirus in India, I shall only remain indoors entirely on 22nd March for the #JanataCurfew thinking of all our essential service providers working tirelessly during this trying phase."

Author Shefali Vaidya wrote, "Only @narendramodi inspires such confidence amongst the common people that they are willing to stay at home voluntarily because he asked them to. It has been less than an hour since his address, and already WA groups are buzzing with the news of #JanataCurfew."

Supporting Modi's 'Janata Curfew', actor Pawan Kalyan came up with a video extending his support to Janata Curfew and requested everyone to stay home on March 22. The video was posted on Andhra Pradesh BJP's official page.

NITI Aayog's Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar wrote "Let's follow Hon'ble PM's directions on spreading civic consciousness & social distancing & to prepare country against #Covid19India crisis."

"Let's also follow PM @narendramodi's call to participate in #JanataCurfew by staying indoors on Sun, March22, from 7am to 9pm. #IndiaFightsCorona."

Tennis player Sumit Nagal tweeted "Let's get behind and support PM @narendramodi Ji's #JanataCurfew initiative from 7 AM to 9 PM on Sunday, March 22. We will overcome this together! #SocialDistancing"

Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa retweeted Modi's video and stated "We all are with the Nation right now. Nation first then everything else. Let's get this together and sing a song of making yourself stronger than ever before. We are with you @narendramodi sir.

"It's time to show responsibility towards the entire human race. Support the initiative #JanataCurfew of our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji on 22nd March from 7am till 9pm. Let's become one team and do the needful," posted basketball player Prashanti Singh.

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene wrote "It's time to understand our social responsibility & follow the guidelines. Let's show gratitude to all the people who have been working round the clock for us by observing the #JantaCurfew on 22nd March. Do your part. Stay safe to keep others safe."

A Twitter user, urging his fellow citizens to follow 'Janta Curfew' said "Spread the word in lieu of #janta_curfew on Sunday. It's time we stand United against this."
